Teaching Assistant

Salary:   £22,775-£24,493 (actual salary £20,060-£21,573 pro rata for term time only)
Employment Terms:   Full Time, Permanent and FTC available
Hours:   08:30 – 16:30 Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. 08:30-17:30 on Wednesdays and 08:30-15:30 on Fridays.
Start Date:   ASAP

An exciting number of opportunities have arisen for strong candidates to support teaching and learning at Undershaw. We are proud to uphold the pastoral wellbeing of everyone within our school community as the central pillar of the education we provide. As a passionate and enthusiastic individual, you will be key to not only supporting the educational learning of our pupils but also to help them develop social skills, independence and grow their self-esteem.

Part time will be considered for those who can work a number of full days.

Skills required:

  • Grade C (or equivalent) or above in GCSE English & Maths
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to think creatively and problem solve.
  • A great team player with a flexible “can-do” attitude
  • Understanding or an interest in Special Needs Education Needs and Disabilities. Full training in meeting the needs of students with SEND will be provided.
  • Patient, resilient and above all a great sense of humour

Literacy Intervention Tutor

Salary:   £27,897-£30,048 (actual salary £24,570-£26,465 pro-rata)

An exciting opportunity for a Literacy Intervention Tutor to join our existing team at Undershaw Specialist School in Hindhead. We are a non-maintained independent specialist school with places funded by our Local Authorities.  Our school offers provision for children with mild to moderate learning difficulties such as ASD (high functioning).  We provide an education for those who might not thrive in a mainstream setting but who equally would not be suited to attending a specialist SEN school – we offer an alternative which sits in the niche just between the two.

We are looking for a Literacy Intervention Tutor wo will work with individuals and small groups who are identified as needing additional support with SpLD, reading and comprehension. You will raise standards within reading and will monitor and support student progress. There will be accountability for targeted support for students who are dyslexic and/or have SpLD identified on their EHCP.

We would welcome applications from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers or those with specific literacy teaching/tutoring qualifications You will have sufficient proven evidence of supporting students with reading and literacy interventions and be able to demonstrate that you can balance academic expectations with the challenge of meeting the needs of SEND students

Role:

School Cleaner

Salary:   £11.68 per hour
Employment Terms:   Part time; all year round position.
Hours:   3.5 hours per day Monday – Friday term time (outside of school hours); flexibility to adjust hours within the school holidays.
Start Date:   01st September 2023

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced cleaner to join our team here at Undershaw. We are looking for someone to ensure high standards of cleanliness and presentation are maintained throughout the school. Duties to include (but not limited too) vacuuming, dusting, mopping and scrubbing. All staff and student toilets to be cleaned daily along with the changing room facilities. We need someone who can take a proactive approach to cleaning our school and who has pride in their work.

Skills required:

  • Experience of cleaning to a high standard
  • Some knowledge of health & safety or a willingness to learn
